Yvan Gauthier, a senior research council officer with the National Research Council of Canada’s Digital Technologies Division, leads the AI Accelerator for the Government of Canada. The AI Accelerator delivers impactful and responsible AI solutions to other federal departments and agencies, supporting them in their digital transformation. Before joining the NRC, Yvan worked for 20 years as a defence scientist with the Department of National Defence (DND). During his tenure, he held the position of the first-ever Director of Data Science and established a new enterprise data science team that supported DND’s Chief Data Officer. Additionally, Yvan Gauthier chaired a NATO Specialist Team on Advanced Analytics and AI and personally led several operational research projects while embedded with various branches of DND and the Canadian Armed Forces.
