Shawn Bowen

Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer
World Fuel Services

Shawn M Bowen is the Vice President, Information Security (CISO) for World Fuel Services Corporation; a Fortune 150 global energy management company. He has 11001 years of experience in information technology, primarily in cybersecurity. Shawn is regarded as a highly passionate, transformative, thought leader in IT Security, with a record of leading successful business and mission first strategies in various environments. He is enthusiastic to share his knowledge and approach to digital empathy-based cybersecurity with all levels of users.

Prior to World Fuel Services, Shawn laid the groundwork for the successful security program as the first CISO at Restaurant Brands International (parent company of Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons). He also served as Special Advisor for Cybersecurity Integration at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and was the first CISO for the U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence. Shawn also retired after 24 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve with his final assignment as the senior enlisted Reservist at AFCYBER.

Shawn (for some reason) still pays the fees to keep his CISSP, C|CISO, and C|CISO instructor certifications current, and several other industry related certifications that have either expired or don’t expire. He is a alumnus of Community College of the Air Force because he showed up to work for enough years; and an proud alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School and Oxford executive cybersecurity courses. Shawn is also a graduate of the esteemed FBI CISO Academy.

Outside of work Shawn enjoys partnering with his wife to defend against their two tiny threat actors and practicing risk management via high altitude plane departures.
