Philip Armstrong, Executive Vice President & Global CIO for Great-West Lifeco joined in January of 2016 and is currently responsible for technology governance and strategy across Great-West Lifeco, with a focus on technology innovation, digital transformation, cyber security, hybrid-cloud enablement, risk management, employee productivity, big data analytics, A.I. and robotic process automation. Reporting to the CEO, Philip is a member of the Lifeco Executive Management Committee and Executive Risk Committee.

Philip has over 40 years of progressive global technology experience, as a CIO, senior technology advisor, and technology consulting strategist. Philip has extensive global financial services experience and has managed technology portfolios through numerous large company mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Great-West Lifeco, Philip held global roles as the Chief Digital Technology Officer for Sun Life Financial and the Chief Technology Officer for Manulife Financial/John Hancock. Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) from York University and a B/TEC from Leeds University (Keighley college).
