Mike Brady joined USAA in December 2018 as the Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer providing technology direction for USAA’s lines of business and staff agencies. Mike is accountable for the leadership and direction of Information Technology activities. Key responsibilities include oversight of IT Regulatory Compliance initiatives, IT strategy and planning, and guiding application development, operations and maintenance, while focusing on time-to-market, quality and innovation. In addition, Mike is responsible for the business agility center of excellence to drive an agile mindset throughout the enterprise.

Prior to joining USAA, Mike served as AIG’s CTO where he led the G-SIFI Technology Remediation Plan, achieving all regulatory requirements contributing to the SIFI de-designation. He also created a multi-year approach to deliver IT restorability, reliability and resiliency that generated increased system performance and availability. Mike drove the adoption of Agile (DevOps/CICD) development for a 10x acceleration of application releases with elevated service quality by rolling out public and private Cloud environments and DevOps tools, training and security, all conforming to stringent regulatory requirements. Prior to that, as the SVP Infrastructure Management Group at Kaiser Permanente, Mike successfully stabilized the $70B healthcare company’s initial deployment of a digital medical records system that was struggling in life-critical environments. He also served as CISO, deploying essential controls and operations to achieve first ever independent auditor approval. At Fidelity Investments he served as their SVP Infrastructure Engineering, Mike directed technology infrastructure, development and modernization to support $3T in assets and 25M clients, delivering 7% of the NYSE daily volume each morning.

Achievements range from speaking at the United Nations on the implications of Artificial Intelligence in the world’s economies to receiving a patent for real-time mitigation of cyber-attacks on a distributed network. Recent recognitions include ComputerWorld Top-100 IT Leader, Top-100 Irish American Business Leader, #1 Green IT Organization, Uptime Institute Continuous Availability Award(s), CIO-100 Artificial Intelligence Award, Dell/EMC IT Transformation Realized Award and others.

His extensive professional background of over 30 years includes directing technology for large-scale, highly- regulated companies in insurance, managed care and financial services. He has transformed organizations through synergizing siloed teams and securing BoD approval for technology advancements and solutions to maximize service delivery, efficiency and scalability. Mike believes success is achieved through teamwork and building company-wide coalitions encompassing key stakeholders, fellow executives and staff to propel positive change.
