John Gallant brings more than 35 years of editorial and technology experience to his role as Enterprise Consulting Director for IDG. In this position, Gallant works with IDG’s most important partners to create online and event content that bridges enterprise buyers and sellers – creating more awareness, understanding, and brand affinity. He also leads IDG’s market-shaping CIO Think Tank program, which convenes senior IT leaders, IDG journalists, IDC analysts, and top technology vendors to explore and direct the future of critical emerging technologies.
In his previous role with IDG, Gallant was Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer of IDG Communications US, where he led IDG’s CIO, CSO, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Macworld, Network World, PCWorld, and TechHive brands, among others. Gallant worked with IDG’s editors to deliver career-enhancing content serving the diverse needs of IT leaders at every level. He also drove IDG’s social media strategy, and led the creation of IDG’s Insider program delivering unique and high-value content to registered Insider members. During his tenure, IDG’s journalists were honored with a wide variety of awards for editorial excellence.
Gallant, one of Network World’s founders, was formerly CEO and editorial director for the company, where he guided content and business development for print and online, as well as Network World’s seminars and events programs. Gallant is a frequent speaker and moderator and, through his CIO and CEO Interview Series articles, has showcased the ideas and strategies of the top executives in the tech industry.
In 2010, Gallant was inducted into the Media Industry Newsletter (min) Editorial and Design Hall of Fame. He is an Executive Fellow of the Digital Strategies Roundtable, a CIO peer group hosted by SDA Bocconi School of Management. Gallant is Chair Emeritus of the Boston College Technology and Entrepreneurship Council, and is Vice Chairman of the board for Dream Big, a non-profit that helps underprivileged girls build confidence through sports.
