James has over 30 years of experience in cyber security and technology.  He has 21 years of direct experience as an information security leader and is currently the Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Security Officer for Cigna, a global health services company.  James previously worked 20 years for General Electric in various security and technology leadership positions.

James was recognized as a Top 100 CISO’s by CISO Connect in 2021 and was an Evanta 2016 Breakaway Leadership Award finalist and a T.E.N. ISE North America Executive Award finalist in 2011.

He has Co-Chaired the CISO Executive Summits in Dallas and New York for several years and participates as a keynote speaker at various events across the globe.

James also works closely with SINET, the Security Innovation Network, to promote public and private sector collaboration and increase the awareness of innovative emerging companies.

James is actively involved in the Financial Services and Health Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (FS-ISAC and H-ISAC) and the Domestic Security Alliance Council (DSAC), which work to drive standards, improvements, and networking in cyber security and risk management globally.

He has an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a BBA in Management and Leadership from Amberton University.

He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and Six Sigma Quality certified.
