Dan Garlick currently is Vice President  & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Gates since July of 2021. Dan is responsible for Gates’ global information security and IT risk management programs.

Most recently, Dan was an client executive and CISO at NTT Security, working as the CISO for a large global Medical Equipment Manufacture customer of NTT’s. There he led the development and deployment of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, including security operations center enablement, end point protection capabilities, threat management and risk mitigation planning. Dan developed the company’s first security charter, built an organization of subject matter experts and was recognized by the company’s leadership in averting a serious cyber intrusion attack.

Previous roles included Director of Information Security and Risk Management at Hitachi Vantara and CISO at REIT AIMCO, where Dan built information security organizations from scratch and developed IT security processes, controls and governance programs to ensure robust cyber risk protection capabilities. Dan has also held information security positions with Deloitte Consulting and Samsung Electronics, the latter based in Seoul, South Korea, following his retirement from active duty in the United States Air Force, where Dan served as a decorated Combat Weapons Officer onboard B-52/B1B aircraft during Desert Storm before transitioning to Cyber security, achieving the rank of Captain.

Dan holds a MSc. in Executive Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University, a MSc., Information Security from Nova SE University, and a BS in Criminal from Clark University. He holds numerous security certifications including: C-CISO, CISM, and CISSP.
