Bret has designed, implemented and led the information security organization for a multinational, Fortune 50 technology company for over a decade. He is a respected security leader across the industry and is recognized for his ability to navigate risk through innovative leadership and vision.

As the Chief Information Security Officer for Microsoft Corp., Bret is responsible for enterprise-wide information security, compliance and business continuity efforts. Leads a global team of security professionals with a strategic focus on information protection, assessment, awareness, governance and enterprise business continuity.

Bret currently serves as the Chairman of Microsoft’s Information Risk Management Council, convening teams from across the company that focus on data protection. He also hosts Microsoft’s Security Council a forum with enterprise customers that drives product direction and operational best practices.

Bret has the proven ability to build robust and successful security programs, leveraging his deep technical background and strong business acumen to align engineering with executive vision. He is a strong advocate for security across all corporate functions and knows how to build executive and board-level support in order to achieve success.
